Cambridge Shopping Centre

Construction of a four-level commercial centre comprising basement parking, 2,000m2 supermarket, retail tenancies and medical centre/consulting rooms, rooftop car parking and plant rooms. Total area is approximately 17,000 m2, with a building footprint along all boundaries. Construction included diaphragm basement walls using the “Echidna” trenching method, concrete tilt-up walls, a mix of in-situ concrete, Deltacore, and post-tensioned slabs supported on precast and in-situ concrete beams.

 

External facades included aluminium shop fronts, Alpolic cladding, Luxalon louvres and glazed canopies. Services included major electrical, mechanical, fire, hydraulic, and lift services, as well as specialised services such as a cash tube system, dumbwaiter, and compactor. The main fitout includes the Coles supermarket, common areas, and toilet facilities. Also part of the work involves extensive demolition of existing buildings on site, including the removal of asbestos roofs.
